AR1000 Series: FAQs

Software Installations and Upgrades
The information in this section applies only to OEM configurations. For information about ODM/IVAR configurations, refer to the "ODM and IVAR" section of this FAQ.

Q. How do I install software applications?
A. The AR1000 series ships with the OS pre-installed and pre-configured to work with an external USB CDROM drive or floppy disk drive. Alternatively the available Ethernet ports can be used with the CDROM drive on another computer made accessible as a resource to the AR1000 series unit. Another option is to use a USB storage stick.

Q. Which upgrades are allowed in an OEM configuration?
A. An OEM customer can only replace the SO-DIMM memory. Hard disk drive replacements by an OEM customer are not allowed and must only be performed by a PFU Systems technician. Any SO-DIMM replacements must be done using PFU Systems parts. Using other suppliers' parts or performing an unauthorized hard disk drive replacement, voids the warranty on the AR1000 series.
