Access control to sensitive information on documents

picture

Since DocEncrypt™ enables users to encrypt multiple parts of a document using different passwords, it lets them control the level of access to information on the document by associating different passwords with user privileges.

The above chart shows a solution idea to complaint letters about a management process in the company. After the company receives the letters, the complaints desk staff encrypts parts of the contents, such as customers’ personal information and the specific complaint, using different passwords.

Once the three departments – customer support, marketing department and stores - receive the documents in either paper or digital format, they can access the parts that pertain to their tasks and operations by decrypting them with the corresponding passwords.

The old method required three kinds of letters for each different department, but by using the new method, users are able to share one letter because the customer information is protected. Thus users are protected against sensitive information getting leaked, even if the letter gets lost.

The company is able to reduce the risk from leaked information:

  • Preventing a high amount of compensation or penalties
  • Preventing damage to a company’s brand image
  • Helping enhanced regulatory compliance

Tamper-resistant prescription

DocEncrypt is able to prevent prescription fraud due to people altering a physician’s prescription.

As shown above, along with the original prescription data, an encrypted image of the prescription is attached to the document.

When the pharmacist in a drug store receives the printed document from the patient, he/she can easily verify the legitimacy of the data by following these simple steps: scan the document, decrypt the image with DocEncrypt, and then compare the prescription data and the decrypted image. If the patient has modified the prescription data, the pharmacist can immediately detect the fraud because the decrypted image will not match the prescription data.

DocEncrypt is a cost efficient solution that requires neither expensive tamper-resistant papers nor special printing devices.

Other ideas for tamper resistant solutions include:

  • Licenses or permits from local governments
  • Certificates or letters from educational institutions
