Our Quality

PFU ensures the most rugged and reliable kiosks on the market by strictly controlling the design of the motherboard and by subjecting the motherboard and all peripherals to a long battery of tests.

To ensure the highest quality and reliable kiosks, PFU:

Motherboard

To assure the highest quality motherboard, PFU chooses only industrial quality components.  Industrial quality components:

  • Are of higher quality and reliability
  • Are available on a long-term supply basis
  • Are available after their projected “end-of-life”

PFU modifies the motherboard to obtain better and more reliable performance

  • Modifies BIOS to allow for scheduled shut-off and start up of the kiosk
  • Extended I/O control circuit – supports more I/O devices
  • Specialized I/O control – provide control of LEDs, power supply, and additional monitoring functions
  • Optimized motherboard component layout – compact size; reduced heat accumulation
  • Optimized thermal design allows for fanless design

  • Reduce dust accumulation:
    Fanless kiosks reduce dust accumulation within the motherboard.  Dust makes kiosks more prone to failure – dust adheres to the PCB and components causing thermal problems, short circuits, and other issues.
  • Reduce heat accumulation:
    Fanless kiosks are designed to dissipate heat more efficiently.  PFU performs extensive thermal analysis on the kiosk to improve reliability.
  • Reduce power consumption:
    Fanless kiosks use less power.  Combined with PFU’s automatic time function that shuts down the kiosk when it is not being used, the fan less design reduces power consumption.  This is truly an environmentally friendly kiosk!
  • Reduce noise:
    Fanless kiosks are very quiet – less than 30 dBA. As a comparison, 30 dBA is the noise level of a quiet, almost a whisper conversation. The only noise from the kiosk is during printing.

Example of peripheral testing

  • Touch screen:
    • 7 wire resistive
    • Finger tapping life – 10,000,000 times at the same spot
      Assume: 1,000 finger taps per day on the same spot = 10,000 days
      RESULT:  27.4-year life span

Over Two Decades of Manufacturing Experience

PFU has adopted the latest manufacturing techniques and procedures that assure only the highest quality kiosk is produced.  In addition, PFU has developed its own unique continuous improvement processes. 

PFU factories have access to the latest equipment, from special clean rooms, to robotic testing equipment, to CAD/CAM computers, and others.
