Functions Performed by the KIOSK SERVICE PLATFORM
  1. KIOSK SERVICE PLATFORM browser
The KIOSK SERVICE PLATFORM browser is an IE6-based browser that allows developers to use web based development tools and mirror the web’s look and feel in their custom applications.  In addition, this function allows easy porting of existing web-based applications to the kiosk.

  2. Local kiosk and device control function
KIOSK SERVICE PLATFORM controls all devices connected to the kiosk terminal’s I/O ports; and uses the local program to monitor all status conditions, control the terminal and its peripherals, and to manage all maintenance and servicing requirements.
In addition, the software platform handles all exception conditions locally.
KIOSK SERVICE PLATFORM uses the intelligent middleware to maintain constant knowledge of the states of all hardware components and kiosk peripherals.  In the event of a failure, this detailed information is automatically forwarded to management and maintenance together with suggested repair actions.

  3. Management and Maintenance function
KIOSK SERVICE PLATFORM sets operation menus, such as volume control, security code settings, shut down and restart functions, log file management as well as software update management.  Maintenance guidance is provided on the screen of the kiosk to repair and operations personnel to simplify repair or maintenance.

Advantages for the Application Developer

The application developer focuses on developing a kiosk application that is intuitive, elegant, and with the same look and feel of the corporate web site.  Low-level I/O device specifications, register bit definitions, and so on are no longer required.  KIOSK SERVICE PLATFORM handles the control of peripheral devices locally.
