PFU Systems, Inc. was founded in 1997 as Cell
Computing, Inc., and is a wholly -owned subsidiary
of PFU Limited of Japan, a joint venture between Fujitsu Limited and Uchida Yoko Co. Ltd. To more clearly identify PFU Systems with
our parent company and its heritage, and to create
a consistent worldwide brand, Cell Computing, Inc.
was renamed to PFU Systems, Inc. on April 1, 2002.
The company's headquarters is located in San Jose,
California - in the heart of the Silicon Valley,
and it maintains engineering, manufacturing and sales
facilities located in Plymouth, Minnesota. PFU
Systems is a member of the PICMG (PCI Industrial
Computers Manufacturing Group) Trade Association
and is a founding member of SBTA (Server-Blade Trade
Association). PFU Systems is one of the leading sponsors
and founding member of the PICMG COM Express committee.
As the pioneer
in Computer-On-Module (COM), a.k.a. System-On-Module
(SOM) technology, PFU Systems has successfully
created a growing market for these products with
a worldwide customer base that includes several
Fortune 500 and Global 1000 companies. The company's
markets include appliance servers, gaming, data/telecommunications,
test & measurement, medical, defense and homeland
security. PFU Systems provides its customers with
high performance, low power and ultra-compact COM
components. These COM products provide instant embedded
x86 host functionality. The company also provides
full turnkey-system design and manufacturing services
through its ProDeS facility, which combine COM component
advantages with custom, system-carrier boards to
reduce development time, risk and cost to deliver
quick time-to-revenue.
