PFU Ltd. designs, develops, manufactures, sells and maintains computer hardware, peripheral products and systems (hardware and software). PFU has the #1 market share in document scanners in the world, interactive kiosks in Japan, and is found in embedded computers worldwide.

PFU Ltd. entered the Japanese kiosk market in 1995 and today remains a dominant kiosk manufacturer with over 60,000 kiosks installed in Japan. PFU markets a full line of standard kiosk products in Japan and offers customized kiosk products through its ProDeS division. PFU kiosks are extensively deployed in the hospitality, retail, education and government markets.

PFU Ltd. pioneered System-On-Module (SOM) technology. Its embedded products have penetrated many markets including appliance servers, gaming, data & telecommunications, test & measurement, industrial automation, medical, defense and homeland security.

The company was founded as Unoke Denshi Kogyo in 1960. It was renamed to PFU in 1987 to address its relationship with three companies, Panasonic, Fujitsu, and Uchida Yoko. As of April 1 2010, PFU Ltd. is wholly-owned subsidiary of Fujitsu.
